Improve Your Credit Score

Two weeks ago I mentioned that checking your credit score was one of the steps a buyer needed to complete prior to purchasing that first home.  What if you find that the credit score is in need of some improvement in order to qualify for the mortgage loan with a great interest rate?  Several web sites recommend taking steps such as challenge errors, eliminate credit card balances and make payments on time.  Additional comments included not opening various lines of credit for the sake of improving your credit mix, paying off a collection account does not take the ding away-it will stay on your report for seven years, and keep all of the balances on your credit cards and revolving credit low.  For additional articles two sites that are well worth the visit are:  http://www.myfico.com/CreditEducation/ and http://www.homebuyinginstitute.com/  ---GreatSpace Man
