Move Over Macys!

The book and movie Miracle on 34th Street popularized the Thanksgiving Parade as a kick-off for the holiday season.  Houson has it's own televized Downtown parade that spans 60 years-- move over New York!  This great local parade has grown to feature hot air balloons, floats, celebrities, marching bands, cheerleaders, and costumed characters that will wind through 20 blocks, beginning at Minute Maid Park. The 2009 parade will be held on Thursday, November 26, Thanksgiving Day beginning at 9:00AM.  General Admission is FREE and open to the public.  There are two areas for reserved seating. Full details are online at http://www.hebparade.com/ .  If you can't be a curbside participant the parade will also be broadcast live on KHOU-TV.  --Jenny J
