Houston #3 on America's Best Housing Markets
Check out Forbes for two super reports that mention Texas and especially Houston in Top 10 Lists for Real Estate and Economic Recovery!
Houston is #3 in Forbes.com list of the top 10 cities in America's Best Housing Markets. In Fact Texas owns 3 of the top 10 positions that include Dallas and the Austin-Round Rock markets. The economy in Texas has been strengthened by strong industries in both energy and technology, which in turn have contributed to a generally strong housing market with a low foreclosure rate compared to the national markets. Texas is also cited in a Forbes list as the "poster child for economic recovery" with four of the top 10 cities on the list of Cities Where the Recession is Ending. This encouraging snapshop features Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. According to Forbes the Texas housing market did not experience inflationary home prices and this is one of the primary reasons for the strong economic recovery. In both of these lists Houston's energy jobs are credited with providing the basis of much of the job stability and growth in the state.
Moody's Economy.com also is reporting that Houston home prices are expected to rise next year and is one of the four housing markets where prices are stabilizing.
From Texas A & M Real Estate Center: Housing Affordability Upswing (publication #1926), a report issued in January of this year, paints a strongly positive picture of the overall Texas housing market in comparison to the national market.
